"Gelati" Dresden for Judy

I am catching up on my bee sewing this week. In the Quilting Around the World Bee 2, Judy from Australia asked for a block inspired by her Dresden starter block. She also asked for "gelati" colors. Now I have to admit I was not totally sure what "gelati" meant, but I think it means sherbet inspired colors.

I have never attempted a Dresden so I was excited to try to make this block. I found a wonderful, time-saving tutorial for making Dresdens. This video tutorial is worth viewing if you are at all curious about these blocks!

I followed the tutorial and this is the block I made for Judy. It was fast and easy. I just love learning new techniques and this is one I really like.

The one thing I did differently was instead of using hand-applique to sew the blades to the background, I used a Sulky clear polyester thread on the top and a Sulky white thread in the bobbin and machine appliqued the block to the background.

Here is a photo of Judy's blocks so far. Her starter block is on the top left.

Hope all is well with you and your family!

Until next time,
     Joan
